Sun-drenched diaries
Sarah Shabacon
Designer, mother, and longtime lover of slow moments by the water. From road trips to film photography, she shares the rituals that shape her summer.
What does your summer self mean to you?
My summer self is relaxed, bronzed and happy!
What does the beach mean to you?
Stillness, as chaotic as the beach can be, I find it’s one of those places I don’t feel tempted to work at all and can be fully immersed in the moment and everything else seems to stand still.
What's in your beach bag?
Saltyface Daily Sun Shield, Vintage Beach Towels, a bucket hat, sunglasses, my e-reader and a Sunny Life Beach Chair.

Describe your ideal summer day.
A road trip with the top off our Bronco to the Okanagan to buy fresh berries from the farms followed by a stop at the market for tacos and horchata.
How are you incorporating movement into your day?
My work keeps me pretty active and when I’m not working, I’m cleaning the house or playing soccer with my sons.
What’s your dream sun-drenched vacation destination?
Zanzibar, I spent a summer there as a teen and it is magical.
What’s a quote, phrase or lyric that always resonates with you?
“Peace begins with a smile” - Mother Teresa.
Tell us about something that you couldn’t live without.
My film camera, it captures life in such a beautiful way.
Is there a book that you’re currently reading, or love going back to?
Frequently Happy by David Larbi.
What’s your effortless go-to outfit?
Lately I’ve been living in baggy denim shorts, a linen shirt and leather fisherman sandals. I switch up the bag I pair with it depending on my mood. Usually it’s a sunny yellow bag by Marge Sherwood.
How would you describe your style in three words?
Simple, Comfortable, Wearable.
